Echoes of the journey...
Preserving Living Traditions
As a tribute to India's artistic heritage, Speaking Stones offers community workshops that introduce participants to traditional art forms through hands-on practice. Rather than simply learning a style, participants explore the stories, techniques, and cultural context that have shaped these art forms over generations.
Workshops can include tribal arts such as Warli and Gond; folk traditions like Madhubani, Mandana, Pattachitra, Airpan, Rabari, Kobar, Thangka, and Tanjore; along with practices such as block printing, screen printing, tie-and-dye, paper-mâché, and other regional crafts. Reflecting the studio's growing focus on sustainability, the workshops also explore the use of natural dyes, earth pigments, and colours derived from naturally occurring materials wherever they are relevant to the art form being practiced.
These workshops are designed specifically for schools, educational institutions, museums, cultural organisations, conservation organisations, community groups, corporate teams, and special events across India.
Every workshop is planned around the audience, the purpose of the event, and the time available, making each experience relevant, engaging, and meaningful.
