Enter the flow...

Long before there was a studio, the journey began with an exploration of different art forms, materials, and mediums. Along the way, a series of hand-painted stones, expressing stories, emotions, and hope, came to be known as Speaking Stones. As the practice found its direction in clay, the name Speaking Stones remained a reminder of those beginnings, honouring the journey that has shaped and continues to shape both the art and the artist.
Every ceramic piece begins as a lump of clay, and is gradually transformed through a sequence of processes. From reclaiming and preparing the clay to shaping, detailing, and refining the form, each stage builds on the last. The piece is then trimmed, surface-finished, slowly dried, glazed, and fired twice at temperatures exceeding 1000°C before it is complete.
At Speaking Stones, we choose small-batch making over mass production. A handmade ceramic piece is shaped not in hours but across days, and often weeks leaving traces of the decisions made throughout its making.

The Beginning

Studio Collection
The Studio Collection brings together a selection of functional and sculptural ceramics created in the studio. Each piece being created completely by hand reflects the same careful process of making, but no two are ever exactly alike. The collection is always changing as the studio continues to make new work. Some works may already have found new homes, while others become available over time.
If a particular work interests you, please get in touch for its availability and pricing.
